Welcome
to
T.H.E. Country Cocoon
a
" Totally Healthful Eco-Experience"
where we
"honour all that chooses to be"
"T.H.E. Country Cocoon"
In the beautiful parkland area of sunny central Alberta, experience the joy that the land on this 450 acre farm feels as it is assisted in being turned back to its natural state.
We are:
- nurturing the diversification of natural plants in the area
- controlling grazing of cattle, sheep, and poultry so that seeds and "fertilizer" are distributed naturally
- planting two trees for every tree we use
- encouraging all the thousands of soil organisms from bacteria to earthworms to moles to aerate the soil
- growing crops, vegetables and grasses without the use of unnatural pesticides or chemicals
We are continually "Teaching and Learning Healthful Ecology" by sponsoring individual and group tours, giving opportunities for hands-on experience, and providing working models and examples of:
- collection and use of naturally growing herbs
- "energy" management / enhancement of nature
- woodlot management
- use of solar power; - wind power is planned
- re-ducing, re-using, re-cycling
- ever-changing habitat - 160 species of birds, snails, fish, mammals, and reptiles have been documented as having been observed in this area
- maple syrup collection was started in 1998
- "sustainability" in action in all daily living.
Truly Heartfelt Empowerment can be attained through several body/mind/spirit experiences (for an extra fee or exchanges) e.g. reflexology, reiki, intuitive energy work.
We have a selection of musical instruments which play best around a campfire, enabling you to complete with the coyotes! Stars and Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are incredible on dark nights; moonlight nights enable a unique walking experience.
Come prepared with clothes that want to get dirty and footwear that likes wet grass and cow-pies as there are many trails, fields, woodlands and a garden to explore.
We offer a simple pace of life but early mornings sure are beautiful to share with nature so our day starts early...7:00 a.m. breakfast. A healthy variety of homegrown food is offered for the morning and noon meals, including carrot juice, dandelion coffee, and maple syrup.
Guests can enjoy an evening meal in one of a number of small town cafes that offer unique settings. On-site evening meals are available by advance arrangement. We will try to cater to special dietary needs.
Accommodations:
We offer two guest rooms upstairs, one with a double bed; one with two twin beds; bathroom with a shower is at the bottom of the stairs. A hot-tub with a huge wind screened deck has a wonderful view of either the sun, the snowflakes, the stars or the northern lights.
Rates:
Bed & Breakfast only: $50.00 - $60.00.
