Guided Rocky Mountain Horseback Riding
Featuring Gourmet Cuisine
Our summer schedule offers guests many attractions geared toward the outdoor
naturalist, photographer, fisherman, or those who simply desire a no stress, no television, no phone mountain experience. The combination of our trail
expertise, our background in the food service Industry and the unparalleled beauty of
the Blue Canadian Rockies will ensure that you have a memorable and
enjoyable wilderness adventure. Lost Guide Adventure Tours limits the
number of guests per pack-in trip so that we may virtually guarantee that your adventure will surpass your expectations.
Picture yourself relaxing, after a carefully prepared meal that has been cooked over
an open campfire, as the setting sun alights the pines in a blaze of orange, and dusk
envelops the valley of Ranger Creek. Below on the grassy meadow, deer and elk mingle with your saddle horse, grazing contentedly. High above in the distance you see the jagged crags that hang over tomorrow's destination, a ride through alpine meadows to the emerald Lost Guide Lake.
Lost Guide Adventure Tours in conjunction with the Class 'A' Guide and Outfitters Bar JH Trail Rides has an excellent safety record. Riding experience is not essential as qualified guides accompany and assist you each day. The horses are sure-footed and gentle and are assigned to you according to the experience stated on your application form. Rides are casual, with breaks and leisurely lunches served picnic style on the trail.
*Riders are encouraged to participate in the daily care and maintenance of their horse.

ITINERARY
Day One:
All of the tours in 1998 check in on a Sunday in Edmonton. We travel 320 kilometers (200 miles) to the trailhead/corral on Hummingbird Creek in the Rocky Mountains, where we will be spending our first night prior to packing in. The evening offers the opportunity to hike to the beautiful Hummingbird Falls.
Dinner: Authentic German Bratwurst sausage, sauerkraut, potatoes and vegetable packs. Fresh mixed berries over angel food cake topped with whipped cream for dessert.
Day Two:
The first day's ride is up the South Ram River and on to Ranger Creek where our base camp is located. This is a steady, gradual uphill ride past waterfalls and sets of pools, deeper into the Rocky Mountains.
Breakfast: Continental style (to expedite pack-up): muffins, yogurt, cheese, fresh fruit, juice and coffee.
Lunch: Italian Muffuletta sandwich, fruit and homemade cookies.
Dinner: Filet of salmon topped with a fresh herb cream vermouth sauce served with vegetable couscous along with garden fresh green beans. Dessert consists of rum soaked dark chocolate brownie topped with raspberry coulis.
Day Three:
We ride up above the tree line into the alpine meadows to a spectacular trout-filled tarn, Lost Guide Lake.
Breakfast: Eggs rancheros. Italian sausage and
rye toast.
Lunch: Smoked salmon, capers, purple onion. and cream cheese served on a bagel with a squeeze of fresh lemon, plus homemade cookies and fruit. This is the Lost Guide Adventure Tours traditional lunch.
Dinner: Chicken Marbella served with roasted spaghetti squash and rotini alfredo. Fresh blueberry grunt for dessert, served warm with GM cream.
Day Four:
This day's ride proceeds up Ranger Creek to the alpine meadows of Indian Lookout Pass. Here, to the south, you view the majestic peaks in the remote northern areas of Banff National Park and to the north the valleys and peaks of
the Ram River.
Breakfast: French toast topped with Quebec maple syrup and bacon on the side.
Lunch: Sandwiches made with a variety of cold cuts and cheeses along with fresh fruit and cookies.
Dinner: 8 oz. rib-eye steak cooked to your specifications, topped with a cognac peppercorn sauce and accompanied by potato and vegetable packs. Brandied bananas with a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
Day Five:
This day's adventure takes one to an old pack trail under spectacular rock outcrops to view the peaks overlooking the Clearwater River Valley.
Breakfast: Vegetable and cheese frittata with grilled ham.
Lunch: Pita bread stuffed with curry tuna salad, homemade banana bread and fresh fruit.
Dinner: Seafood linguine served with parmesan Nan bread. This is our last night together so we celebrate by offering complimentary port and cheese. This gives everyone a chance to reminisce about the previous day's rides.
Day Six:
On the final day we ride to a tributary of the Ram River drainage system to a natural salt lick where elk and deer are abundant, then past an authentic log trapper's cabin to a high scenic bluff for lunch. From here it is a casual ride
down to the staging area.
Breakfast: Canadian home-styled cornmeal flapjacks served with maple syrup and crispy bacon.
Lunch: Sandwiches made with cold cuts and cheese, cookies and fruit.
The clean fresh mountain air, rides through uninhabited valleys, magnificent scenery, peaceful evenings, and flower-filled alpine meadows, all add up to a holiday unrivaled anywhere in the world.
