When you pack for your trip to the Black Cat Ranch remember, we offer a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Blue jeans and a nice western shirt is as dressed up as we get!
Summer
The most important thing to consider when packing is to come prepared for a variety of weather, as the Rockies are known for changeable conditions. In the summer, expect warm days and cool nights. Bring rain gear in case of afternoon showers.
Winter
In the winter, bring clothing suitable for your planned outdoor activities, with an emphasis on layering to handle changes in the weather.
Riding
Riding boots are desirable, but not required. Good athletic shoes are fine, hiking boots are not (they can get caught in a stirrup). Riders age 18 and under are required to wear an approved hard impact helmet. Adults may wish to wear a helmet as well. We have a limited supply of riding helmets, you may wish to bring your own. An approved bicycle helmet is acceptable. Jeans and a long sleeve shirt are the most comfortable. (No shorts, they are only suitable for riding bareback on the beaches of Hawaii!)
BRING YOUR CAMERA
Bugs
You may want to bring insect repellent in the summer just in case, but chances are good you won't need it much. We rarely have more than a couple of weeks of any noticeable bug population.
B.Y.O.B.
Bring your own liquor and snack items. We are not licensed to sell liquor but you are welcome to bring your own. We have a small bar in the games room with a refrigerator and microwave for guest use. There are glasses and ice, and we carry a limited stock of soft drinks. You are welcome to bring your wine or other drinks to the dinner table.
