The Black Cat Ranch is an ideal location for those who are interested in hiking. We have many kilometers of marked hiking trails starting from the lodge and heading into the hills and mountains surrounding the ranch. We can offer anything from easy 1/2 hour strolls to moderately demanding day hikes. We can provide guides on request. If you are interested in some longer hikes, we can recommend some excellent locations in the Jasper region.
Check out our Day Hikes page for more information on hiking options while staying at the Black Cat.

SUMMER 2009
We are planning a special day hike this summer with Jasper geologist and interpretive guide Ben Gadd. Check back here for updates.
Special Day Hikes
Ogre Canyon
(Rock Lake / Solomon Creek Wildland Park)
This is one of our favorite local sites and we offer this trip weekly. Ogre Creek is a beautiful mountain stream that plunges into a rocky cleft in a series of waterfalls. Explore this stunning canyon from bottom to top.
$35 per person
Cardinal Divide
(Whitehorse Creek Wildland Park)
Join us for a guided hike to the spectacular Cardinal Divide. This is an easy hike up the south side of the ridge. The divide stretches across the landscape like a huge frozen wave. The view from the top overlooks the site of the proposed Cheviot Mine. Come see why this project has created so much controversy.
$45 per person (minimum 6 people)
Farmer's Bench
(Whitehorse Creek Wildland Park)
Located west of Cadomin, along Whitehorse Creek, this moderate day hike takes us into the sub-alpine region. See the forces of water at work. This area has many fossils and interesting rock formations.
$45 per person (minimum 6 people)
Binocular Ridge
(Rock Lake / Solomon Creek Wildland Park
This demanding hike takes you to spectacular views overlooking the Rock Lake area and the south end of Wilmore Wilderness Park.
$50 per person (minumum 4 people)
Cadomin Cave Trip
(Whitehorse Creek Wildland Park)
Explore the Rockies' most extensive cave system through spacious passages and the large room known as the 'Mess Hall'. These trips are offered in conjunction with "Inroads Mountain Sports".
Contact us if you are interested in a day trip to the cave.
