Horseback riding is always one of the main attractions at the Black Cat in summer.
One of the longer rides we offer is to the Indian Graves in Joachim Valley. This is a 5.5 to 6 hour round trip and passes through some unique natural meadows. The views along the way are great and the cemetery and ceremonial site nearby offer a look back to a different way of life. We also offer a large variety of 1.5 to 3 hour rides for those who may feel they are not up to the rigours of a longer ride. In fact, some of the most spectacular scenery we have to offer can be seen in a 2 hour ride on Solomon Ridge. Our riding season starts in mid May and runs until mid October. During May and October, we only offer trail rides on the weekends. From June through September we offer daily riding, with either a short morning ride and a longer afternoon ride or a day ride can be requested.
Helmets - All riders age 18 and under are required to wear an approved helmet. Adults may wish to wear one as well. An approved bicycle helmet is acceptable. We have a limited supply of riding helmets. You may wish to bring your own. Are you looking for a pack trip? Check out our neighbours at Horseback Adventures (Tom & Shawn Vinson) for a great backcountry experience. If you don't do a lot of riding, you might want to do a combined vacation, with a few days of riding at the Black Cat as a warm-up, prior to a trip with Tom and Shawn.
