Infant Headstart Post Natal Program
Food For Two Program
Healthy eating and support of the community projects lead to:
- Healthier Pregancies
- Healthier Babies
- Healthier Families
- Healthier Communites
Who is Eligible?
- Those with a limited income
- Have had a baby in the past with low birth weight or a premature infant
- 20 years or younger
- Poor weight gain during pregancy
- Poor nutrition/eating habits
Program Description:
- Access to a Dietition/Nutritionist to assist pregnant women in eating healthy
during pregancy
- Assists pregnant women in accessing community resources and agencies
- Provides new mom's with respite services when necessary through referrals
to the Family Visitors Program
Who Can Refer?
- Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, Teachers, Parents, Community Agencies,
Friends, and self referrals.
Other Services Offered:
- Free milk coupons and vitamins to mom's with babies under six months
- Nutrition councelling
- Child development information
- Breastfeeding support
- Nobody's Perfect parenting programs
The Prenatal program is held every Tuesday from 11:00 - 1:00 at The Children's
Centre

Infant Headstart Post-natal Support
Program
A program that assists new mothers with children from the ages of 0 to 6
months. The support of a Post-natal Facilitator and the Parent Toddler Facilitator
is available for information on breast feeding, child development, parenting
skills, and much more.
Who is Eligable?
- Those with limited income
- If you think you may not be eating properly or enough
- Your baby is less than six months of age
- You are breastfeeding and need support
Program Description
- Provides information on education, child health, nutrition, home management,
and communication
- Assists new moms in accessing community resources and agencies
- Provides new moms respite services when necessary through referrals to the
Family Visitors program
Who can Refer?
- Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, Teachers, Parents, Community Agencies,
Friends, and self referrals.

- Free milk coupons and vitamins to mom's with babies under six months.
- Nutrition councelling
- Child development information
- Nobody's perfect parenting programs
- Next step program for ages 6 - 12 months
The post-natal Program is held in the Headstart Parent Toddler Centre every
Thursday from 11:00am - 1:00pm
Transportation is available to those requiring this service.
