Molly Elizabeth Brant an Iroquois d-1776 at Canajoharie daughter Tehowaghwengaraghkwin Kajirowinago, a Mohawk (Ka-nin-ke-a-ka) and her mother Sahetagearnt Onagsakerant an Iroquois, epose Nicklas Brant an Iroquois trader; married July 7, 1752 William Johnson an Irish British Trader (1715-1774) who was also married at the time to Catherine Weissenberg (1723-1759) a German girl his housekeeper who he put away. He had 3 children with Catherine (John Johmson) and 9 Metis children with Molly, Brant Johnson Metis b-1742, Thomas Johnson, Metis (1744) and Christian Johnson, Metis (1745); the latter two boys died in infancy. She settled in Kingston after the war. About 1750, Johnson had a son named Tagawirunta, also known as William of Canajoharie, a Metis by a Mohawk woman, possibly Elizabeth Brant's younger sister Margaret Brant. Johnson may have also been intimate with the sisters Susannah and Elizabeth Wormwood, and an Irish woman named Mary McGrath, by whom he appeared to have had a daughter named Mary Johnson. Mary, Keghneghtago (Brant) Metis, and Tagawirunta (William) Metis received inheritances in Johnson's will. Johnson was promiscuous and some estimate he had over 100 offspring.

Begging is forbidden, as it encourages laziness and idleness. New France suffered a serious food shortage, and many starved to death rather than admit to being poor. The French considered the potato as unfit for human consumption because the English are eating potatoes. These famines hit New France in 1737-1738, 1744 & 1751.

A Sulpician priest remarked, upon arriving in New France, that the people, military officers, merchants, artisans and habitants alike were as poor as artists and as vain as peacocks and spent every sou they had on ostentatious living. He was shaken to see country girls, who tended cows during the week, on Sunday, bedecked in lace and hoop skirts, wearing their hair in the very elaborate, high-piled style known then as a la Fontange.
A road is completed between Quebec and Montreal.
Iron is first smelted in Canada at the Forges St. Maurice, north of Trois River, Quebec.
