He enlisted in the Co. E 20th New York Volunteer Calvary on August 4, 1863 stating his age as 21 years (b-1842?).
He recorded in his pension records that he spent much of his pre 1863 life in Dakota Territory and Omaha, Nebraska.
Married May 18, 1879, Jennie Johanna Little, born 1863, family contends this is a second marriage
