Thank you for being there.
I am glad, Sara NB lead me back here today.
While I was healing from an accident doing family research saved me from
insanity.
Thank you so much for your work it has touch me and my family most
deeply.
I am now in college and feeling great.
Tia Night Eagle - 01-2003
I read your web site with great interest,
so great that I have been reading it for a couple of days and still not
finished.
Like myself (yourself), I do enjoy history.

information on metabolism.
Ron Winters - 01-2003
I am a Metis and I just want to say I love your site.
Robert Vachon - 01-2003
I recently stumbled upon your website.

I found your site quite interesting.
Christi Garneau - 01-2003
I wanted to take a minute to commend you on your website
and the information you posted regarding the GI.
Can't wait to have some more time to explore your board and
see what's on there, so far, it's one of the better ones I've seen from an
individual.
Debbie - 01-2003
I would like to thank you for your great work.
It is truly monumental in scope, and very interesting as well.
Laurence Byers - 01-2003
Darrell wrote that this site was bias toward the natives.
This is true in an attempt to offset 400 years of European bias.
We both agree that man is intrinsically good.
--------------
I thank you for your time, and really deeply thank you for your hard work on
your site. It was great.
Darell E. Larocque - 01-2003
Your site is beautiful.
I have read the whole site
and it fascinates me.
Cindy Desrosiers - 01-2003
Great website.
I am in awe of the work you have done on your website
I thank you for the research work you have done as I am just starting to
research my family history,
and it seems to cross paths with yours.
I am helping my 12 year old daughter gain some insight into Quebec history,
as she is traveling there with her class in April.
It is also an incredible learning experience for me,
and I find your viewpoints on the events of the day very candid and insightful.
Jim Boyce - 02-2003
Thank you for sharing your research.
I am learning so much from you; you have enriched my life.
Only 3 years ago I found that I have a Metis ancestry.
Each time I asked, I was told "No!"
But I felt it strongly, so I kept looking.
Connie Lea Fredericks State - 02-2003
I have a Brady in my past.
My Brady is by way of Downham Market, England to Maryland, Kentucky and Utah.
I have enjoyed your work. Thanks.
Pam deVictoria - 02-2003
I just stumbled onto your site today.
I like what I see.
I think I could spend hours here.
Al Dahlquist - 02-2003
Your site is fantastic,
it must have taken an enormous amount of energy to put it all together.
I have sent the Indian History site to my relatives & associate
educators
at the Native Education Center in Vancouver for their First Nations
Courses.
It will get around.... best regards
Rasunah Marsden, Anishinabe - 02-2003
I have been using your site.
I have found many of my Metis Ancestors in these records.
I salute you for all your effort, devotion, and time
that has been consumed in the making of this very informative and
much needed genealogical and historical documented site.
I intend to use some of the data from your site in my book.
My Tribal Council is sponsoring it.
Brenda Lindley - 03-2003
Allow me to commend you for your work at preserving the history of your people!
As a history buff I can commiserate with you!
Neil J. MacDonald - 03-2003
I was pleased to find your site while researching the history of Antoine Laumet
founder of Detroit.
Much of the information contained in the "Metis" section has been very
helpful to me.
Again, congratulations on a very informative Web site.
Yann Saunders - 03-2003
I was hoping to get permission from you in regards to using just the French/Metis families for a book project I am on right now.
Your site is wonderful and full of great research. I enjoy reading all the detail work.
If you agree, I will use your site as sources.
(Permission given)
Paul Bunnell 03-2003
I have just been enjoying your website on the Garneau family.
I believe we are related. (Yes we are)
I am the daughter Rachelle Riggan, the daughter of Gladys Alexina Garneau
(1921-2003)
Therese Green - 03-2003
I happened to stumble upon this website and was thrilled at all the wonderful
old photos.
My grandmother, Thelma Garneau-DesRosiers passed away in September 1999
and
was the only link we had to our illustrious history.
I am very interested to get to know my heritage.
Thank you very much for your hard work and research.
It is very much appreciated by your fellow Garneau family members!
Christine Richardson - 03-2003
Metis Web Site
This is a great read! Thanks for all this.
Mary Defeo - 03-2003
Metis History - an outstanding work!
What an outstanding work and huge project!
I was very interested in your Complete History of the Canadian Metis Culture.
I find a great deal about my French Canadian lineages in your site, and learned
a lot about our Metis connections.
Again, a wonderful documentation for posterity.
Daniel David Cottrell (IV) - 03-2003
I admire your obvious dedication and diligence.
You have been researching apparently since the 50's.
I have been working on my book (about Sault Ste Marie) off and on for about 8
years,
and hope to have it in print by mid-summer.
(Bernie also pointed out an error on a label applied to a Metis 1855 photo)
Bernie Arbic - 03-2003
Very interesting to cruise your web-site.
I'm writing some interpretive programs for Parks Canada,
specifically for Miette Hot Springs in Jasper.
I've been looking for specific references to first nations and Metis use of the
hot springs.
I will be speaking with fellow in Grande Cache who has collected many oral
histories from the area.
I'll pass your web site on to him as well
Anna Carnell - 04-2003
Your incredible site
What an absolutely remarkable site you have constructed here
I have been roaming around it for hours now.
Kathleen Hanna - 04-2003
Excellent Site
Great site, it has aided me in tracing my Metis side.
Thank you
Ton Desjalais - 04-2003
I applaud your gigantic efforts
which I discovered while looking for any records of the contact between the
Viking and the Beothuk.
You have a lot more information than I have found elsewhere,
and your information is very specific.
Thank you again and keep up the great work.
Stephen Moore - 04-2003
I was wondering if it was possible to use your material on Metis people on our
website?
This is the WRIIA Metis Youth Council in Saskatoon.
(Yes! permission was granted)
I think your information is very informative and well researched.
April - 04-2003
For years, there were hushed references in my mother's family to "Indian
Blood."
She suffered all her life from wondering about her identity and feeling "othered."
I for some reason I am compelled to right the wrong in her memory.
I am so impressed by your years of research,
and the "heart" with which you have pursued your goal of finding your
heritage.
Jan Aldrich - 04-2003
HOURS AND HOURS OF WORK
must have gone into an eye opening attack at the history of our country.
I compliment you on the results.
Looking back at the manner in which it was presented
to me as a scholar and university attendant.
BRAVO
Jack U of T - 04-2003
I have just recently been introduced to your websites and
I want to thank you for making me aware of my family history.
These matters were never discussed while I grew up and
I am fascinated by the stories you have collected and published.
Thanks for all your work.
Robert Riggan - 05 - 2003
I'm also a Metis here in North Dakota.
I have read your writing on the site and suggest books have to be made
so all kids can read your writing.
A lot of schools don't have the use of computers on Reservations,
so they need to get your book.
The other people in Canada and USA should also read your writing.
Thank you for the research and time it took to do a good job
Louis Ritchotte - 05-2003
I am a Quebecois and I recently discovered your Canadian History site.
I was very impressed by the level of details in your history of the French and
Metis.
The chronology seems quite accurate for what I have read, however,
there are quite a number of doubtful facts and the impartiality of certain
comments is questionable at times.
Concern was express about opinions relative to Quebec Language Laws
Mathieu Gauthier Pilote 05-2003
Thanks for the great history of New France.
You have a great site.
Thank you for all your hard work.
Vicki - 05-2003
First I need to say that your website is the most awesome I have seen to date.
Your research of history goes beyond excellent.
Carol Veio - 06-2003
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your pages of genealogy.
I come back again and again.
Roxanne Andre Steier - 06-2003
First, I want to thank you for a great web site and for making it publicly accessible.
I've spent many hours reading the information on your site and have shared the
information with my family.
Thank you for your time, and keep up the great work on your site.
Paul Godin - 06-2003
After stumbling upon your amazing website,
I have spent many hours over the past week perusing all your work.
You have done a truly spectacular job in providing all the information that you
have.
Renee Arroyo - 07-2003
I found your website after reading your article in Bottom Line.
I find what you had to say interesting, but what I really need to know
is how does one convert a carbohydrate into GI
so that one would know in what percentile a certain carbohydrate food
falls?
Audree - 07-2003
I chanced across your site while doing a search on Alberta history.
It is a tremendously detailed volume of work, and very commendable and
praiseworthy.
One expects to spend a few hours scouring your interesting history.
Your link is bookmarked, and I will passing it along to other history
enthusiasts in my circle of friends.
R.C. Pierce (Roy) - 07-2003
Metis History
First, let me express gratitude for the extensive material included in your
site.
It has put me into several leads in my investigation of the (Great) Lakes during
this period.
Eric Bloomquist - 07-2003
WOW! Hi I was doing a genealogy search looking at my Metis side.
I JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU.
for your research and for taking the time putting together such a wonderful
web site.
I am very pleased to find such a site.
I have a great deal of curiosity about my ancestors
and came across your site and have spent many many hours looking and reading.
I will continue to visit your site hoping to find more about my ancestors.
Tom Platzer - 07-2003
Thank you for sharing your information with everybody.
Izzy Prahl - 07-2003
Just found your website. Very informative.
Karry Dinsdale - 07-2003
Thanks for one of the best URLs on the net.
I only write to tell you that I like your pages.
Easy to follow, easy to read and above all very informative.
Thanks!
Inger E. Johnsson Gothenburg, Sweden - 07-2003
I really enjoyed your site,
I want to find out as much as I can about my Indian heritage.
Paul Carter - 08-2003
Hi there, I love your website
Rene Salomon - 08-2003
aannii I hope all is well my friend
I like your site but
as you know indigenous people of Canada
don't like the word Indian
as for the most part prefer Native.
Chi Miigwetch, Ontario - 09-2003
I was quite pleased to find your site on the internet.
The information appears to be quite exhaustive.
I have not had a chance to read through all the material yet.
Just glancing through I know I will find some of the information beneficial to me since I will be quoting information from your site for my Master's Thesis " A history of the Black Experience among Catholics in
Canada: Integration or Segregation?"
Marie-Claire Arseneau 09-2003
I read your Metis site with much interest!
Well done!
Leeann Henderson - 09-2003
I was impressed by your thrill in building up this website and the type of
research done.
It could be added that lately some people from other parts of the world
came in and added to the diversity, and human unity, of this great melting pot.
My roots go back to a mixture between Egyptians, Sumarians, Arabs, Babilonians,
Hebrews, Greeks, Romans, and who knows. These people are called Copts.
Allow-me to congratulate you for your efforts,
and thank you for the pleasure of navigating on an intellectual, rich, coherent
website.
Thomas Gayet of France- 09-2003
Hi, my name is Skye. I am doing a term paper on the relations formed
between the First Nation People
and the early European settlers (esp. from 1600 to, say, 1630-40).
I would like to use your site as a reference for my research, because I feel
your viewpoint is VERY valid.
I have always been intrigued as to what the natives passed on technologically to
the Europeans rather than vice versa.
Your an absolute star! I will recommend your site to anyone interested in this topic! have a great night, and God Bless
Skye (Shooting Star) - 10-2003
My families are old northern USA from many backgrounds.
Although we have tribe-sponsored sites that provide good information on
Algonquin tribal branches,
I really like the way you picture what happened in the Americas as a whole.
People so often lose sight of the basic picture that the original Peoples'
cultures
were focused on peaceful trade, not on competition, dishonesty, war and savagery
which they faced from European and southern/Aztec influence.
Is it not sad that the history of Anglo-European cultures is defined to such a
great degree
only by war and more war, deceit, and destructive competition!
Thanks for the good information, something we won't see from the official
history books.
J. Bill - 10-2003
I really appreciate your efforts.
I came onto your site in search of the earliest use of fire and stayed through
the Canadian Indian History.
I got a bit flustered during the European History with all the Church references
but you've certainly been thorough and in retrospect church matters have a great
deal of influence.
Thank you again...the truth may not be appetizing but it makes an
unforgettable meal!
Tom - 10-2003
Recently I tripped on to your web site and found it very interesting and useful
to some of my own research
(re. early French missionaries in Acadia, 1730's - 1760's).
--(Some errors were identified and corrected.)--
I'll return to your site in due course.
Leo Deveau - 10-2003
I am a student of Selkirk College, Castlegar, B.C. and
was surfing through your website for information
on the Fort Pitt siege and smallpox outbreak of 1763.
Traci discovered an error on Indian history 1763 vs. 1757
(which has been corrected)
Traci points out the need for students, historical explorers,
to think critically and confirm factual information.
( I really appreciate criticism, correction and value-adds)
Traci - 10-2003
First, I'd like to complement your site.
I think the quality of the information you present is excellent.
Stephen Larsen - 10-2003
Thank you so much for putting this Website on the internet.
Bobby Ellis Gilliam - 11-2003
Your Web site is an excellent resource for tracking down the names of fur
traders.
'Peake challenges the interpretation of Thompson travels of 1798, Metis section.
His opinion and value-adds were added to that page.'
Errors can discredit all your outstanding work on this site.
Sean Peake - 11-2003
I would like your permission to print about 15 books based on your web pages of
the Metis culture
for family and friends.
'Permission was granted'
Doug Garno - 11-2003
I just wanted to say thank you,
the information I've found so far has been absolutely wonderful.
So many of my ancestors are in your pages!!
The history, the stories and well just the confirmation of lives
from long ago.........thank you..................Rain
Rain Morach - 11-2003
I came upon your web sites while doing research on my French-Canadian ancestors.
And what a great source of information it is!
I have printed out the entire section on French History
and will read it thoroughly
to get some understanding of the history and culture of my ancestors.
Amities, Larry Roberts - 12-2003
How come you do not list your sources.
This discourse is very distorted and not accurate.
It should not be called history, but a novel written to satisfy self-interests.
Genjan - 12-2003
I have become involved in our family history and
was very excited to see the information you have made available.
I just wanted to say 'Thank you so much' for your excellent work.
Paul Clark - 12-2003
After many years of on and off searching for a lost Garneau ancestor, you give
me hope!!
Thank you so very much! You are a God send!
I don't know why I am so emotionally attached to this ancestor.
The thought that there is a whole other family out there
that stems from Louis (Garneau b-1830) just tuggs at my heart strings.
I would really like to find them.
Thank you again for all your work. It is a masterpiece!!!
Robin Harmer - 12-2003
