I found your website very informative and am interested in learning more about this particular clan (Ojibwa Bird Clan)

I was browsing the web yesterday
and kept running into your incredibly detailed chronologies of Metis people and Alberta.
I am amazed at all the information you have compiled. What a project!
Suzanne Peregoy - 01 - 2006
Thanks for all you have done for the Garneau family!
I don't think any
other Canadian family is as lucky!
Jody Garneau - 01 - 2006
Thank you for putting together the wonderful history and culture of New France.
It is the kind of thing I want to pass on to my children and grandchildren.
I knew generally from my father that the history of New France in our books was
distorted,
but now I have something much closer to the truth to pass on.
Ron Jobin - 01 - 2006
I was deeply impressed about the info you have provided about all the Indians and the history behind everything.
Willow Woman - 01 - 2006
Thank you so much for sharing your research with the world via the internet.
You have done a tremendous amount of work and I truly appreciate your

Your site was mentioned in the Quebec digest. It is very interesting,
you have incredible amounts of information. I haven't looked at all your
site,
just found it, it will take some time to look at everything.
Margaret LaGue-Hobler - 02 - 2006
Just a quick thank you email.
I came upon your website by accident.
I have been interested in the history of the Metis people
and feel that your website can be a great resource.
I just finished reading “Strange Empire” a well written book about Louis Riel
and am searching for other historical resources.
I want to congratulate and thank you on your lifelong work.
I live in North West Indiana and have made many trips to Canada over the years;
Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba.
Bob Rossa - 02 - 2006
Sincerely...thank you.
History needs to be re-visited.
Its a personal journey that many would benefit from.
The aboriginal healing and welling centres are a start.
Perhaps...this seed can grow and spread to all.
Laurie Barnes - 02 - 2006
I've visited your Website and found it easy to navigate and interesting.
Keep up the good work.
Take care,

I'm tearing myself away from the late 1600s long enough to say,
thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your absolutely splendid website ...
it's been stoking my addiction for the several weeks since I found it
(and I'm sure has contributed greatly to my current state of total abstraction,
dishevelment,
and barely-tolerable social behavior).
Being able to set my Gelinas--Durand--Denomme--Laporte ancestors into the context of their time and place ... what a wonderful gift!
Many thanks.
Barbara Tiede - 03 - 2006
VERY GOOD work.
Keep it coming!

Congratulations for your site it is most interesting.

I have been researching the name Munroe for a long time.
I thought I had a lot of information until I did a Google on the Monroe name a few days ago.
It is great to see all this information and I want to thank you for giving us access to all your research.
Shirley Simmering - 03 - 2006
It looks like the work of a student who had not bothered to read his history book beyond the Chapter outlines.
At some point -- about 1565, perhaps -- this 'historian' conceived the idea that Philip II of Spain suddenly
became Emperor Philip, at which point I despaired of him ever passing his finals, but he went gayly on with this idea without a qualm..
Take a look at it. You will probably find a number of other errors, but this one alone would make one suspicious of all the rest of the site.
Marilyn Durham - 03 - 2006
I am truly enjoying your web site!
I have only scratched the surface I am sure. It is a genuine wealth of information.
My wife is descended from French Canadian with some Iroquois Turtle Clan involved.
She has been researching our family trees for several years and has traced her French heritage back to the early 1500's in France. I am hopeful she can find something in your vast amount of information a lead into her Native American heritage as well.
THANK YOU for sharing all your hard work. It must be a labor of love.
Rober L Kilby & Joanna Nedeau-Kilby - 03 - 2006
Wow
What a site!
It will take some time to read it all but I like what I have seen so far.

Louis Riel & the Métis clash with the NWMP at Duck Lake & are defeated at Batoche. Riel is executed in Regina.(Note: this site gives a remarkable account of all the events before and after 1885 describing the players, such as Sam Steele, Sir John A. MacDonald and many others—all as part of the Métis History alongside the "True Canadian History". A careful reading of the site will create a strong and detailed impression of the times. Perhaps Dick Garneau's site will not be considered impartial—Lawrence Garneau, the writer's ancestor, nearly hanged with Riel, and there are no kind words about the Scots, of which, ironically, I am one by birth)
Source Christine Hastie web site - 04 - 2006
It is noteworthy that I also have Scottish ancestry and yes the site is not intended to be impartial.
Search for Metis roots
I truly enjoy your web site.
with appreciation

Where do you get your information about European and Middle Eastern histories?
I find quite a bit of items that are not only in acuurate, but insulting.
That's not only about the "mythical religions" but beaucoup others.
One being that Aryans are Iranian and that can be linguistically and
I'm fairly certain genetically traced. That's not taking anything from the Sumerian.
Tell me, have you ever heard of the Alans? Just curious

Hi, my name it's Céline Thivierge, let me first say congradulation and thank
you for your website and all this work of research.
Céline Thivierge - 04 - 2006
First let me say how much I love your wonderful site.
I have been researching my family tree for more than ten years and
over the years since I found your site you have guided me in my research and
I have found many of my Metis ancestors on your great pages.
I also have many Garneau and Gareau ancestors.
My interest in genealogy research has led me to do research now for others
who also search to find their Metis ancestors.
I do not charge for this service since it helps them in their quest to become Metis Citizens.
Colette Risewick - 04 - 2006
I am the 86 year old author of a book about Chief Nescamboiuit,
who was recently "Commemorated" by Parcs Canada.
As I browsed your pages I envisioned inserted "quotes" from your web site
that would "set the mood" for my narrative.
The inserts would be accurate quotes from your site and prominent credit given to you and your site.
Would you have any objection to me using material from your web site in this manner.
{no problem}

Al Kayworth - 04- 2006
Thank you for your incredible work.
How lucky I feel to have found your web site and to have found my Great-grandmother,
Jane Maria Genereux born in LaPointe in 1868, in it.
To learn in almost an instant that her father's family had been in North America
almost 200 years is even more amazing.
klfalconer -04- 2006
Thank you for such an informative site.
It is amazing to see so many records for my ancestors in there.
David Dugas - 04 - 2006
Your Magnificant web site
Thank you

I ran into your accounts of early American history on the internet.
I wish to pay my compliments as yours, by my estimate,
comes much closer to what really happened
than what we may call the orthodox or establishment accounts.
Let me express my admiration for the dedication that you have applied to your perceived
task.

Dear Sir.: I believe that something is missing in year 1492.:
Columbus discovering of America...This Site is really fascinating.
My best wishes.
Hernani Morgante.- 04 - 2006
1st. From a First Nation perspective Columbus ranks up there with Hitler and Stalin, he was not a nice man and should not be honored. He knew America was there and had Maps to follow.
He was hoping to bypass America for India and failed.
2nd. Columbus didn't discover America, it was never lost. He was preceded by the Polynesians, the Viking, the Japanese and the Chinese to name a few.
3rd. We should celebrate the Americans who discovered Europe and their decedents, the Basque Peoples.
I am working my way through reading your web site.
I found your site through the Metis Nation of the South.
Wow! What a plethora of history!
Ylice Golden 04 - 2006
Less than one year ago I discovered your site and was beyond thrilled.
However
I have just finished reading the past 40 years and I am beyond dismayed
and actually angry that you have injected your own personal feelings, views and
beliefs.
(There followed two full pages of rants about the evil American government.)
(Most of the last 40 years is taken from the news media throughout the world)
(The key point of the E-Mail is as follows:)
"The purpose of history is to present facts"
Tracy C. - 04 - 2006
(A differing opinion is presented in the next E-Mail)
As per my rigorous and formal Scientific background,
I must insist that,:
there's only ONE absolute TRUTH.:
"there IS NO absolute Truth".
There are only different POINTS OF VIEW.
This fact is what makes interchanging ideas interessant (interesting).
The World would be quite dull provided we'd all think equally.
Hernani Morgante - 04 - 2006
As a published author dealing mostly with maritime history, I found your website to be very useful for its extensiveness and valuable also as a research source. However, I must register my response to your references to Captain George Vancouver and the City of Narvaez/Vancouver and British Columbia. The generally anti-English bias which is discernable throughout your otherwise excellent presentation diminishes the quality of it all. Instead it turns it into a diatribe bordering on propaganda, viz
With best regards and hopefully without any rancor or animosity.

I'm part Native "American" (Seminole)
and I like your website...
Peace Be With You Friend
H. Alfred Goolsbee - 05 - 2006
I wish to thank you, because you´ve induced me to "discover" how much "biased" my limited knowledge about European (world? ) History was. Very, very naïve on my part, but I´ll try to arrange things the correct way. I´ll continue my search for that part of the "truth" ( ? ) that had been hidden from my perception for so much Time. If you don´t mind, I´ll let you know. Meanwhile, my sincere respects, and... Energy!!!. Faithfully, yours.
Hernani Morgante Cortés. -05 - 2006
Thanks so much for all of the work you have done over the years.
We know that if you hadn't collected the materials,
they would not have anywhere to start on their Historica project.
Oldest daughter Michaela has been selected to present her work,
at the Historica Fair in Halifax, Nova Scotia representing B.C.
The judges were impressed with the level of research that she put into her
project.
Thanks for all of your research! Without you, they would have had no place
to start.
Jody Garneau -05 - 2006
Love your web site.
Judith Jones - 05 - 2006
I am fascinated by your website.
Thanks for your website
Joanne Fraser - 05 - 2006
I explored more of your website and you are an amazing man!
I hope to further explore the idea of a Nova Scotia Metis identity,
why it is not as strong as the Western Canadian identity.
I was told in no uncertain terms yesterday, by a university professor,
that Acadian Metis are not Metis.
Western Metis are considered such because they are Quebecois/native, and Acadians don't count.
(I am sorry but your university professor is misguided.)
Joanne Fraser - 06 - 2006
Good site, I like it very much

What an extraordinary man you must be!
You have written, a human shattering work and you ask nothing in return but our understanding.
I am overwhelmed. I am computer illiterate so have asked a whiz to teach me how to put your work on a CD, with your permission. I intend to use it primarily for my own education, but also as a reference for a dramatic reading I have written about the how we have come to the parlous state we are now in globally. So far I have only read your work about European history and I am
ecstatic to find your detailing of that disastrous story. Your research and telling must not be lost.
What an amazing synopsis of world pre history.
Moyra Mulholland aka HawkOwl - 07 - 2006
What an enlightening gathering of information on the history of native peoples and the time lines of north America….something I’ve always wondered about, educators in Canada and the US should teach more about this, as it really was and as it really happened.
Phil Doige - 07 - 2006
Fabulous web site! What an undertaking! Bravo!
I'd add my 2 cents of clarification regarding the Grignon family of Green Bay
for your million dollar site.

Information about your wonderful Web-book titled as Canadian Indian History.
Could you let me translate and manage to publish your book in a translation form in China?
As I see in the Webs, you have already had translation versions in French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. How about to add to them the Chinese Version based on my translation work, though I know, much more polish is needed before it can be made available to the web-browsers .
Due to the great value of your book and the great use for me,
I have so far translated all the main chapters roughly for my own reference.

Wow,
You certainly have the most excellent site
and I can only imagine the work you must have done to get the history together.
I learnt a lot from your site and will continue exploring it.
Anyway, my whole hearted congratulations on your site. I am only sorry that I found it so late.

Hello,
I have found your website on Metis history very interesting and I would really love a hard copy.
Is this a publication that I can buy? If so could you send me details?
I admire the work you have done and am totally fascinated to a different view of the beginnings of Canada and America. I will study it and learn alot, thank you.
