Hey, great site!  Absolutely stimulating!  Wish you were our teacher in school for Canadian history.

Dennis  01   -  2008

Thank you so much for creating your amazing website!
I've been able to get a great deal of information on my ancestors and
I've learned so much about their culture.
I have a great number of Metis ancestors in my family and
I was able to find information on almost all of them thanks to you :>)

Again, thank you so very much!

Your site is precious beyond words!!!!

Sincerely,

Karen Post  01  - 2008

Most incredible web site with much to fathom information.

Joseph Starman  01  -  2008

Your web site is very impressive.

Don Rusk  01  -  2008

Wow! What an incredible amount of information.

Theresa Waterhouse  02 - 2008

Mr. Garneau, I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for the wealth of information about my own family
(Hamelins and Vanasses) that I was able to glean from your website.
I was reading the thank-yous when I came across the comment by a XXXXXXX (name removed), I believe her name was.
How anyone can have the audacity to chastise you for the odd error that may appear in your amazing collection of names and dates is beyond me!
You have truly done our Metis people a great service and have ensured that the names of our ancestors will not get lost in antiquity.
What I appreciate most is how proud I am to be Metis and to call myself a descendant of Jean Baptiste dit Anas Vanasse!

Ms Kelly Tyler  03 - 2008

I've found the material on your website to be both very useful and very interesting
from an anthropological and paleontological perspective.
I greatly appreciate you making the material available on the internet.

Abdul M. Zia  03  - 2008

Thank you for the amazing website that you have put together
and all the wonderful information listed within.

Mike Belleau  03  - 2008

First I must compliment you on the astounding volume of information you have
put together on your website.

After spending the past year (part time) researching our family tree I can
certainly see how you have come to spend decades doing this.

TinaThompson  03  -  2008

Thank you for your wonderful site and your dedication to research and history.

Nan MacDonald  03  - 2008

Your wonderful website was sent to me by a friend who knew I was researching my husband's family history with the purpose of finding his first nation or Métis ancestors. My mother in law said that her grandmother had Indian blood so I was determined to find it!
Love your website!

Patricia Baldwin  03   - 2008

Thank you for the reply and I forgot to mention in my first email how much I enjoy your site !!
it's incredible.

Laura Linklater  03  - 2008

I like your web site!

Ron Depatie  03  - 2008

Of course I forgot to tell you - thank you for your website.  It has given me many hours of pleasurable reading.

Ida A. Spence  04  -  2008

I want to congratulate you on your tremendous compilation of facts and interesting information presented in your website.

I have read it extensively and have told many others about it. I especially enjoyed the European History section as I have a specialized interest in ancient Mesopotamian culture and history. In areas that I am familiar I found your historical information very confirmatory and accurate as compared to many other sources I had previously studied.

Jeremiah  04  -  2008

What a fascinating website and the work you must have undergone to achieve it!

Cindy   04  -  2008

Thank you for all the work you have put in to this site.
It has made for very interesting reading without the technical jargon found in science magazines.
Keep up the great work.

Wynnie P.    04  -  2008

I enjoyed reading through your website the other day and found it
very well done.

Scott D. Erker  04  -  2008

I must have scoured the net from A to Z searching for genuine non-biased
(or should I say NON religiously biased) historical accounts of the European/Indus valley cultures.
Needless to say all I found was bias. Let me say, your site is the best I have come across for clear concise information.

Andy   05  -  2008

First, let me say that I love your website.
Thanks for sharing all that information with us distant cousins!
I know I have more Indian heritage than I can document, yet still was surprised to see some of my early ancestors you listed as Metis.

 Anne Stef  05  -  2008

I am too far from the libraries.
Your site is wonderful. Wanted to make contact with you even though I have not been through your whole site,
I am enjoying it very much.

Linda Hadley   05  -  2008

I enjoy your sight and have spent many hours reading various materials.

Gil Cote  06  - 2008.

I'm also fascinated by your site.
I do a lot of work with the Metis Nation of B.C. and
your site comes up time and again.

Mike Evans  06  -  2008

I just wanted to let you know that I find your website amazing!
What a comprehensive history of the Metis.

Hayley Picard   06  -  2008

There are ABORIGINAL AMERICANS and many OTHER AMERICANS
whom you have slandered with this statement,
"The Americans believe they are superior to all other cultures."
and it is not true.

You fight against so many prejudices, yet here you are
insulting many of yor own GARNEAU and all of us in
the USA who believe in your work.... with your own prejudice!!

Ayla  07  - 2008

I found your Metis nation website to be very interesting and informative.

Donna Streifel  07  -  2008

I ran across your website while Googling Samuel Champlain for my daughter's
Gr.7 history assignment.  I think its the best resource I have seen on the settlement
of Quebec and I just felt I had to congratulate you on the terrific work you have done.

Thanks for making it available.

Fred Van der Vliet  09  -  2008

Just wanted to say "Thank You" for the wonderful site
on Canadian History, the real history of Canada.

Donna Green  09   -  2008

First of all I love your website!

Nancy Dyck  10  -  2008

Wow I feel so Very fortunate to have stumbled upon the truth of my Montreal Ancestors ( I am certain all of my French Canadian Ancestors).  My mom had told me when I was little that we were French Canadian Indian (First Nation,, in the 1960's).  As I began and continued my Genealogy I was like wow no we are not descended of First Nation's. Since I had not found any factual proof of it.
But aha!!!!   Monday 11 Nov 2008 I found the "History Of Quebec".  And There is Marie Archambault a Metis.
She was married to Urbain Tessier there in Fort Montreal.   In the books and web sites she has been listed as being born in France? So a whole new avenue of true is opened up to me and my earth family.  My mother was very excited when I forwarded her the web link.
Thank you so very much for your years of toil to bring the truth to the light.

(I only present my opinion based on my research, others should search their own proof as I can be in error)

Gratitude & Kinship,

Virginia Beaudet dit DuCap- Laguerre   11  -  2008

I have been perusing your web site with interest.
very well done, and I thank you

 Leila Haddad   11   -   2008

Merci beaucoup pour tout votre travaille.
Your site is amazing and will provide a lasting legacy to the Metis people.
Thank you again for all your work

Jim Lane  11  -  2008

I have been avidly devouring your notes on my quest for my families lineage
I find your writings fascinating and logical.
Thank you very much

Sheryl Boivin  11  -  2008

FANTASTIC:
It's help me so much with my genealogy studies.

Walter Nollet   12  -  2008

Thanks so much Dick.
Congratulations on all your wonderful work.
This is all so interesting, it's a shame we learn so little in our schools.
Here I am an old lady of 67 and this is all new to me.
I will learn all I can and pass it on to my children and grandchildren.
This wonderful heritage must be passed on.
There must be many many Metis families in the US and Canada and
they don't even know it!!!  What a shame.
Many in the Archambault family including my two sons have very dark complexions
and truly have native features.
Merci et bien vous

Carolyn Archambault   12   -   2008

Thank you for all the work you have done.
I has provided me with hours of entertainment reading about my French/ Metis ancestry.
Peace

John Kemp   12   -  2008

I am amazed at the work you have pit into your website!
It is 4:30 in the a.m. here in Ontario and I have been reading and reading!

Aggie Murray   12  -  2008

You have a great site, full of wonderful information.
(the two records in error have been corrected, thks)

Tammy Mitchell   12  -  2008

When I Googled "Canadian Indian History" and your fine history came up I was astounded, impressed
Excited.  Because I had never read such a vast all embracing history of the Indian People
giving your point of view which at this stage of my life, I believe is closer to the truth than any other history I have read.
I do believe your powerful work will change much negative underlying attitude now held by many
who are uninformed of the true history.  It will provoke some excellent debate and discussion
and this always leads one closer to the truth.
It is also my personal opinion that you could enjoy a broad circulation by printing your book directly from your website..
No Prettifying needed.  It stands on its own
