Paul Louis Dazemard (d'Azemar), sieur de Lousignan, born 1691, and died after 1746, is given command at La Baye (Green Bay, New France (Wisconsin) until 1746.

Bienville was replaced by Pierre Francois, Baron De Cavagnal, Marquis De Vaudeuil. The new governor was more decisive than Bienville and quickly moved to take control of Indian tribes and halt the influence of British traders. He also established discipline among the soldiers.

Madame Denes (1690-1760), widow of (IV)-Philippe Louis Denies (Denys) sieur de LaRonde (born 1714), is Captain of La Pointe Ojibwa Country (Wisconsin) which she holds until 1748, and she is believed to be the first female to hold such a position.  She received 1/3 of the gross revenue as a pension.

Louis Ducharme, born 1684 Montreal, Quebec, is hiring men for La Baye (Green Bay) New France (Wisconsin).

Michel Gamelin dit Mangras/Maugras/Gaucher b-1700 is hiring for Fort Detroit,  New France (Michigan), and Poste des Outas, and he continued to hire until 1754.

Joseph de Fleury, sieur de Lagorgandiere (1676-1755) son Jacques Alexis de Fleury and Marguerite de Chauigny, obtained the trading rights for Green Bay, New France (Wisconsin).

Some time between 1743 and 1746, word reached Michilimackinac, New France (Michigan), of the new French war (King George's War).  A group of voyageurs and Metis deserted the French for the far west, some living among the Dakota to avoid getting involved.

The following voyagers are recorded at Michilimackinac, New France (Michigan), this year in the birth, death and marriage records:  Joseph Des Caris, Thomas Blondeau, Jacques Farly, Jean Baptiste, (II)-Charles Chaboyer (Chaboillez) (1706-1757), Saint Germain and a (III)-Jean DuLignon (d-1762) who married Marie Josephte Angelique Lemaire,(1717-1748), (Savage). They are living at Sault Ste Marie, New France (Michigan/Ontario).

(I)-James Isham d-1761, a clerk writer and a bigamist of the Hudson Bay at York Factory, (Manitoba) called the Lake Superior Ojibwa who came to trade,  the Nakawawuck Indians who border by the Little Sea (Lake Superior). The Indians named the Little Sea due to its location next to the French settlement. Isham also wrote that what was of most concern to him was to see themselves sit quietly and unconcerned, while the French, as in an old saying, not only beat the bush but run away with the hair also. The Plains Cree had introduced them to the Earchethinues or Archithinues (Blackfoot), and he wanted to send two men to encourage them to come and trade.  (I)-James Isham, d-1761, clerk writer of H.B.C., however, recorded 250 canoes arrived with 550 men to trade.

At Pierre, South Dakota, in the territory of the Little Cherry Indians, Louy La Londette (Laudette) and A. Miotte, on March 30, buried a plate claiming the Territory for France.  This is placed for the Chevalier de la Verendrye.  The plate is discovered February, 1913.

(II)-Pierre Gautier la Verendrye (1685-1749) returned to the Dakota Territories and visited the Black Hills, observing that a well-established fur trading network is in place.   This cannot be true as (II)-Pierre Gauthier de Varennes et de La Verendrye (1685-1749) is forced to resign this year. It is likely one of his sons.  (III)-Louis Joseph Gautier of Verendaye (1717-1781) and (III)-Francois Gautier de Verendrye (1715-1761).  The Verendrye brothers are credited with burying of a lead plate on the Missouri River bluff near present day Fort Pierre, claiming the Dakotas for King Louis XV of France.   It was unearthed by school children in February 1913.  Scratched on the back "placed by the chevalier de la Verendrye witness Louis, Lalondetie, Amiotte 30 of March 1743".  Some think they also penetrated the Black Hills of Dakota this year.  Other accounts suggest their Indian guide refused to take them closer as hostile Indians resided there.  

(III)-Pierre Gautier la Verendry Monsieur de St. Pierre established Fort Kaminnistikwigaw on the site of Fort Paskoyac, established in 1748.

Joseph La Violette is in charge of two canoes and 12 men for Pierre Gaultier de Varennes de Verendrye.

The English North West Committee, headed by Arthur Dobbs, an Irish M.P., begun a legal attack in London on the territorial claims of the Hudson Bay Company. The Hudson Bay Company reported:  If a Cree woman commits adultery without the knowledge and permission of the husband,  he makes no scruple of turning her off and very often knocks out her brains with a hatchet.  They frequently lend their wives to other men for a night, week, month or even a year, and will sometimes make an exchange for several years.  Afterwards the women return to their former husbands, taking with them all the children that have been born to them by the other man.  This could be a fabricated story to justify the abuse of Indian women by the English.  Some would say the English however would learn the hard way that wives can be lent but not borrowed.  The Albany Post, James Bay is reduced to less than 15 men.  The French didn't support this English belief.

Fort Dauphin, alias Fort Lac Des Prairies on Lake Winnipeg, (Manitoba) is rebuilt- having been recently destroyed.

Henley House(Old Post) at the Junction of the Albany and Kinogami Rivers, Ontario, is established this year but is abandoned in 1754 after the Indians sacked it for the poor treatment of their women by the British.  

The term 'firewater' appeared about this time from the Cree word iskotawapo, iskota meaning fire and wapo meaning water;  the Ojibwa word was ishkodo-waaboo.

(I)-Nicolas Marechal de St. Vincent married 1744, likely a country marriage at Cahokia or Fort de Chartres to Marie Jeanne Illinoise et lleret; de Ste Anne, Fort Chartres.  War had broken out between England and France and he was likely assigned to repairing Fort de Chartres Illinois up river from St. Louis Missouri on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River.  Cahokia Illinois is on the east bank of the Mississippi River near St. Louis.

The competition at the French Forts of Nipigon and Michilimackinac, New France (Michigan), is so fierce that (I)-Charles de Beauharnois de La Boische (1671-1749, Governor New France (1726-1747), wrote to Count Maurepas ordering the destruction of Henley House, if possible.  Thirty to one hundred canoes passed Henley House for Fort Albany, James Bay, annually.

Nicolas Joseph de Noyelles, sieur de Fleurimont (1694-1767) replaced La Verendrye as commander in charge of the Posts of the Western Seas, until 1747.  He is commissioned to encourage the savages to attack the English speaking people of America.

Robert Pilgrim, a bigamist and Chief Factor at Churchill, traded unfairly with the Indians and neglected the maintenance of his post, as was noted in Joseph Robson records.   Robinson alleged that penetration up the rivers into the continent is easy, that corn and other vegetables could be cultivated as far north as York Factory, (Manitoba) and that local mining and fishing enterprises, as well as permanent colonies, could be established.  He claimed that the Hudson Bay Company had, for eighty years, slept at the edge of a frozen sea.  They exert all their art and power to crush the spirit in others.

The Pike Indians and Owashoes (Wasses), both Ojibwa tribes, are trading to Fort Albany, James Bay.

France and Great Britain declared war. The governor decided that a strong fort was needed and began preparations. De Bertet by then had persuaded Kickapoo and Mascoutah tribes to move from Terre Haute, Ind., to the new fort site Fort de Chartres. The Indians, with the proposed garrison, helped protect Illinois Country. A masonry fort was recommended, but plans were supplied for wood and stone forts in case the French decided that masonry was too expensive.

March 15:   Britain and France are again at war.  The French at Louisburg strike the first blow in America, later admitting the English would perhaps not have troubled us if we had not first affronted them.  It is our love of aggression that has cost us dearly. So wrote the French at Louisburg.  The British North American colonies called this the King William's War.

August 11:   Fort Detroit,  New France (Michigan), marriage, of (I)-Jacques (James) Albert Apert dit Lapine son James Apert, France,  married (some suggest it was September 5, 1744) to Marie Catherine Dagneau born 1728, baptised June 25, 1731, Detroit, died April 2, 1753 Fort Detroit,  New France (Michigan), daughter sieur D Agneaux Douville.  They lived with the Miami Indians near Fort Detroit,  New France (Michigan).  

They had 4 children:
