James Taylor likely married 1831 or earlier St. John, Red River Sarah, both living Red River Settlement December 9, 1832.

FOURTEEN CHILDREN ARE RECORDED: likely represents more than one James.

James Taylor (1828-1919)(6) born July 29, 1828, baptised August 12, 1829 St. John Anglican Church, Red River, died December 18, 1898 married Sarah born 1835 died 1855, possible error see 1820.  2nd marriage Phebe Thomas born 1832 William Thomas, also see James born 1838 below.

Betsy Taylor baptised June 24, 1838 St. John, Red River daughter Mary.  Heather Hallett suggests Betsy and Elizabeth are same person?

Elizabeth Taylor born May 20, 1838 died April 17, 1903 daughter James Taylor (Scot) and Mary Inkster, married December 18, 1856 St. Paul Anglican Church, Red River Thomas James Slater died February 21, 1894, son James Slater and Mary Indian or (Metis) born 1829 witness are James Taylor and John Taylor.  (possible second marriage Henry Gillis)

1879 December 18 died at Pembroke, Ontario at home of his daughter Mrs. Francis St. Denis

Married August 17, 1831 St. John, Red River Mary Kieth (Kerth) born 1811? Metis.

"I noticed that you gave Mary's birth year as 1811. According to her father James Keith's will dated 1826, which is in the Hudson Bay collection, Mary his a adopted daughter was born on Jan 1 1814 and is the wife of Paul Pilon and her sister Helen also adopted was born on Sept 11 1811. The will also stated that if Mary chose not to marry he had made arrangements for her to go live in a convent. He left each daughter a 100 pound dowry as well as an annuity. Helen had died by 1836 and James Keith left her husband Paul Pilon and their children Paul, Marie and Catherine a farm in Sainte Annes des Plains. He also had a 1836 will and the executor was George Keith. This is the second time I've seen Mary's birth date listed as 1811 and I was wondering if perhaps the 2 sisters have been confused. James Keith died January 27, 1851 in Aberdeen. " Source Diana Gervais

"There is a little bit of misinformation in regard to Mary Keith. I have taken my information from the flyleaf of James Keith's notbebook which you can find referenced in the Dictionary of Canadian Biography. Keith does, indeed, call both Helen and Mary his "adopted" daughters. He was never married to their mother whom he identifies in the same notebook as "the 2d daughter of Jean Bte. Cadotte." So, by owning them, he was, at least, in the letter of the law "adopting" them. He noted the period of his cohabitation as 21 August 1809 to 7 June 1813 when he left for the Columbia. He did leave them well provided for in his will as well as during his lifetime.
Helen was the older daughter, born 14 September 1811. She married Paul Pilon in the parish of St-Joachim, Pointe-Claire on 26 December 1826. Three children were born of the marriage and Helen died in the parish of Ste-Anne-des-Plaines 24 July 1831. Paul Pilon later remarried and had other children.
Mary was born 1 January 1814 probably at Ile-a-la-Crosse, Saskatchewan. She died at Fort Coulonge 11 October 1866."
