Smoky River South Provincial Recreation Area
Located 4 kilometers north of Grande Cache, Alberta, Canada on HWY 40 North, Hiking, Biking, Trail Rides, Wildlife & Bird viewing, Playground, Horseshoe pit, White Water Rafting, ,Riverboat launch Ramp, canoe, kayak access and more. Fishing for Whitefish, Grayling, and Catch and Release of any Bull Trout caught. Over night and weekly rates available. Tour groups and Outfitters welcome.22 secluded sites, RV and Auto access. Day use sites. $ 10.00 per night:includes firewood.($ 8.00 for seniors) Open year round. On site caretaker, Well water,Hand Pump,Vault Toilet, Pets sites, Reservations accepted. Pets welcome.
Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area
Sulphur Gate (Hell's Gate), located 5 kilometers north then 7 kilometers west on highway 40 enroute to Grande Prairie just outside Grande Cache. 14 sites(6 sites with horse corrals),Staging area for Willmore Wilderness Park, Water Tap (spring feed), Water troughs,Vault Toilets, Hitching rails, Large Horse holding corral, Unloading Ramp, Seperate Commercial users Area and seperate Day Use Sites, Hiking, Mountain bike trails, Sight seeing/View point at the 250 ft high cliffs overlooking the joining of the Smoky River and the Sulphur River. Wild life and Bird watching opportunities abound. Fishing for Whitefish, Grayling, and Catch and Release of any Bull Trout caught on the Smoky and Sulphur River confluence. $10.00 per night: includes firewood.($ 8.00 for seniors) Open April 1 till November 30. Reservations accepted. Pets Welcome
Sheep Creek Provincial Recreation Area
Located 20 kilometers north of Grande Cache on highway 40 next to the Smoky River and Sheep Creek junction. 9 River Side sites, Well water, Hand Pump, Vault Toilet, Hiking and Biking Trails, Wild life and Bird watching, Fishing on the Sheep Creek and Smoky River for Whitefish, Grayling, and Catch and Release of any Bull Trout caught. Riverboat Launch Ramp. Over night and weekly rates available. $10.00 per night, firewood included($ 8.00 for seniors). Open from April 1 till October 31. Reservations accepted. Pets welcome.
South View Provincial Recreation Area
Forty five kilometers north of Grande Cache on highway 40. Pets welcome, 8 sites, No Water, Vault Toilet, Hiking trails, Sight seeing/River valley Viewpoint. Wild life and Bird watching. $10.00 per night, includes firewood($ 8.00 for seniors). Open from April 1 till October 31.Reservations accepted.
Kakwa Provincial Recreation Area
Just 75 kilometers north of Grande Cache on highway 40. 14 sites, Well water, Hand Pump, Vault Toilet,Hiking, Sight seeing, Wild life and Bird watching, Fishing for Whitefish, Grayling, and Bull Trout. Catch and Release of all Species caught on the Kakwa River. Over night and weekly rates available. Pets welcome. $10.00 per night, includes firewood($ 8.00 for seniors). Open from April 1 till October 31. Reservations accepted.
