Notes for JAMES SR. MILLIGAN

A certificate obtained by Lavinia shows that he joined the Knights
Templar in Killyleagh in 1825. It is said that in the 1820's that he
left from Saintfield, North Ireland and settled in Baillie, New
Brunswick around 1830 or shortly thereafter.

A letter written by Aunt Sarah Lindsay states that both James and Mary
came to Canada in 1825.

James Milligan was originally from Northern Ireland, Provence of
Ulster, town of Killyleagh, County Down, Civil Parish of Killyleagh
and Poor Law Union division of Downpatrick.
"Died on 1 June 1866, James Milligan, age 66, native of County Down,
Ireland, had been a resident of this province upwards of 40 years. He
was a member of the Masonic Fraternity and would have been buried with
Masonite Rites as he requested had it not been that many of the
members of the Sussex Lodge were on military duty at the time."

Notes from Lavinia Sala states "died of consumption of the blood
caused by Rheumatism."
